Y A Y !!!
Welcome to 96 land
"Dans" ROM is actually a DANISH ROM from the Danish user groups.
It has extra commands for fast screen display and other things - Ill check the docs (such as there are).

Ive tested the danish ROM and indeed, it has a faster display as it sets up a green-only startup screen. It shows also a different cursor, I havent found anymore differences yet
. That docs would be great!
Ive figured out how to work with the extra sound commands, they only need the prefix EXT to be invoked:
Still trying to get something useful from the extra data RAM commands (STORE, FECTH, BACK, etc.)...

Re: Ampliación RAM Camputers Lynx 48K a 96K. Ram Expansion
try to do this
ext fast 2
Fast x is different colors of fast
EXT cat x - is for external eprom board , like a DIR for memory
MULTI x , is for running up to 6 basic programs at the same time
ext recover ????, is for recovering from command "new" or quick power off and power on
ext vars shows your variables
This ROM was tailored to the Danish group - it also contains code for Danish characters and a relocate for the keyboard layout.
In Danish EPROM 3 memory is used like this - counting the 2 first ROMs adresss into this , so starting from &0000
all values are hex
4000 - 5000 , that is the last 4K of LYNX 96K basic
5000 - 5041 INIT routine
5042 - 52ff FREE for use
5300 - 5380 ROM Read , for reading eproms in the eprom burner
53d0 - 5402 Variables - going together with NEW DIMENSIONS
5405 - 543b Arrays - going together with NEW DIMENSIONS
5440 - 5472 Strings - going together with NEW DIMENSIONS
5475 - 547e vars + arrays + strings calling all 3 one after the other
5480 - 5502 FAST FAST LISTING - it will all be rewritten in english
.
.
.
.
5780 - 57cf MULTI BASIC
there is also RECOVER and
ALARM
TIMER
?RUL
?RULOFF
?ULON
but I havent figured out the syntax yet and the docs must be translated from Danish.

Lynx 48K v3 schematics:
My PCB (v2):
As you must guess, LK1 is closed and LK2 (middle) has both lower links closed. Ive checked continuity and they indeed provide +5V and +12V as they are now.
The 96K configuration must be:
Red lines are cutting marks and green lines means a closed link. Is it correct?
As the 4116 are already mounted in sockets I only need to replace them with 4164 ICs
The ROMs (IC45 & IC46) are already the Lynx96K versions. Ive compared them with Pales ROMs and they are equal except a padding byte in one of them![]()
Hola a todos !
No se ve la imagen con la configuración del los link (la tercera): es posible recuperar el file ?
Muchas Gracias !

Re: Ampliación RAM Camputers Lynx 48K a 96K. Ram Expansion
Hello everyone, new member from Greece here...
Excuse me for using English, I can understand Spanish, but not able to write much...
Well, I recently purchased a Lynx 48 and I have a few questions about this upgrade:
a) My machine came without PSU, but it's complete and supposedly working. Once I upgrade to 96k, will I still need the -5VDC and 12VDC to run the Lynx, or simply +5VDC will be enough to feed the computer''s whole circuitry?
b) I am confused, hence my previous question. Will 4116 DRAMs remain still after the upgrade inside the Lynx? In that case, I suppose that all 3 different voltages will still be needed. Can somebody, PLEASE, explain the whole 48 to 96 upgrade procedure step-by-step, with a couple of photos, if possible?
c) I read about some SPLYNX conversion, and I have seen a scan of an old printed paper, with some very brief instructions, and at least one of the procedure steps missing (due to bad print, or something...)
What exactly is this SPLYNX modification?
IIRC there are some Spectrum converted games to run on SPLYNX modified machines (or on ANY Lynx machine, didn't understand well), which exactly are them and where can they be found?
Thanks, lads, cheers from Greece!!

Re: Ampliación RAM Camputers Lynx 48K a 96K. Ram Expansion
Hi and welcome to the forum!
a) You need all the voltages; as you say, 4116 IC are still present, so no changes in the PSU.
b) The procedure to upgrade to 96KB is simple:
1. Replace all 4116 of the lower left bank for 4164 ICs
2. Check the jumpers in the far left side of the ICs and cut red lines + link green ones:

You can check it for yourself, LK2 jumpers give you (in the original config) +5V and +12V and LK1 gives -5V. This is the schematic info:

3. Add Lynx 96KB ROMs, you can find it everywhere from an emulator. I can check for my own roms if you need them...
Let us know how it goes
EDIT: Apart from the ROM in this thread and following Ron's suggestion, you can find more of them here: http://elborg.dk/L-Eproms.html

Haven't you considered the ROMs update ?
It's a good moment to do it.

Re: Ampliación RAM Camputers Lynx 48K a 96K. Ram Expansion
Gee, thank you very much!!!
So it's really more simple than I thought! I won't do the upgrade right now, as I don't have a PSU but I will build one in the near future, using a simple ATX...
How about Splynx? What exactly is it?

Re: Ampliación RAM Camputers Lynx 48K a 96K. Ram Expansion
I don't really know the details of SPLynx. As you have already found, the step 4 is missing and I've never found the original. I'm sure Pete Todd could give you a proper explanation and even fill the gap of the mod; but he hasn't been in the forum for a long time. Hope he's well...

Re: Ampliación RAM Camputers Lynx 48K a 96K. Ram Expansion
I hope so, too...
So, we'll have to wait until Pete visits the forum again, meanwhile there are a lot of retro-projects to be finished, so the Lynx will stay at the corner for a while...
